Wuxi spareribs

Main ingredients: Pork spare ribs 2 lbs

Sauce: Soy sauce, rock sugar, red yeast rice, ketchup, anise, bay leaf, ginger, tsaoko

Hailing from the city of Wuxi in China, this fall-off-the-bone spareribs dish brings out the very essence of the area’s cooking style: sweet and salty. Covered in a delicious tangy and sticky sauce, this dish is a crowd pleaser for any eater and tender to the bone.

Feeds: 2-4 people

Cooking time: 20-25 minutes

Instructions

  1. Place spareribs in a steamer.*
  2. Add sauce and cover over spare ribs.
  3. Steam for 20 minutes.
  4. Plate and serve with rice.

*If you don’t have a steamer, boil 1 ½ cup of water in a medium sized pot. Place two heat-resistant bowls in the bot, the first, bottom-side up, and the other directly on top, top side up. Place the pork belly in the bowl and cover the pot. Steam for 25 minutes.
