CHEF SAM MA   馬昌

With over 40 years of experience, Chef Sam Ma is highly regarded in the culinary industry. With a career dating to 1967, he was assistant head chef at Hong Kong's prominent Maxims Group and its Jade Garden restaurants.

Chef Ma came to Canada in 1987 and was executive chef of the three restaurant group Bayview Garden. He was a partner of Golden Bull on Cumberland. He was also consultant to King's Garden and recently Spring Villa. Since 1999, Ma has operated his own Hong Kong-style vegetarian restaurant.

Known for his meticulous methods and stringent quality demands, Chef Ma has collaborated with legendary Chef Yeung Koon-Yat. He has represented Hong Kong and Canada in international promotions and competitions, and cook for heads of state such as then Premier Zhu Rongji of the PRC and then Chief Executive Tung Chee-hwa of the Hong Kong SAR.
